A Friendly Southern Reform Jewish Synagogue

Welcome to Congregation Children of Israel, Augusta's Reform Synagogue! We have been serving the needs of the Augusta Jewish Community since 1845. Augusta has grown into Georgia's largest metropolitan area outside of Atlanta. Our Synagogue has also grown and moved several times since 1849. Augusta, Georgia is a great place to live and our Synagogue is a great place to worship, learn, and celebrate as part of an active and caring Jewish community.

Rabbi Klensin

Rabbi Robert Klensin joined our Synagogue family in July, 2004. His personality, knowledge, and especially his warmth have made a deep impression on the congregation. Rabbi Klensin brings over 35 years of Rabbinic experience in the warm tradition of Reform Judaism. He enjoys teaching, and sharing his excitement about Judaism with others. We hope his tenure with us will be long and fulfilling.

Rabbi Klensin would be pleased to talk personally with you about our synagogue, Jewish community, or religious practices. You can reach him through the temple office. We'd love for you to visit Congregation Children of Israel and meet Rabbi Klensin. Join us any Friday evening for Shabbat services or call the rabbi in the synagogue office to make an appointment.
